ADULT:
Crush Injury of a major muscle group (Over 60 min.)
50 mL IV / IO pre-filled syringe
Metabolic Acidosis / Prolonged Arrest / Renal Failure / Tricyclic OD
50 mL IV / IO, once
PEDS:
Crush Injury of a major muscle group (Over 60 min.)
1 mEq/kg IV / IO
Neonates (0 - 1 month): Dilute 1:1 with NS prior to administration
Metabolic Acidosis / Prolonged Arrest / Renal Failure / Tricyclic OD
1 mEq/kg IV / IO, once
INDICATIONS:
- Crush over 60 min - SO
- Prolonged Full Arrest - SO
- Metabolic acidosis - BHO
- Known renal failure - BHO
- Ventricular dysrhythmias as a result of tricyclic OD - BHO
PRECAUTIONS:
- Extravasation may cause tissue necrosis.
- Avoid injecting simultaneously with Epinephrine, or other catecholamines. Alkaline solutions inactivate catecholamines.
