Morphine

ADULT:

Chest pain of a cardiac nature, (CHF or Pulmonary Edema - BHO):

 

5 mg SDV IV titrated to pain, may repeat once SO in 3 min

 

Pain: See indications below: (IO for Crush / Burn Injury only)

 

5 mg mg IVP / IO, may repeat once SO in 3 min

5 mg mg IM SDV, may repeat once SO in 3 min

 

***Single dose vials (SDV) approved for IV, IM, and IO***

PEDS:

Pain isolated skeletal trauma, burns, amputations, crush (BHC for < 2y/o):

Over 2 years old:

0.1 mg/kg slow IV / IM, may repeat once SO in 3 min.

Under 2 years old: Base Hospital Order

0.1 mg/kg slow IV / IM, may repeat once SO in 3 min.

INDICATIONS:

- Moderate to severe pain (≥ 5)

- CP of suspected cardiac origin - SO (IV Only)

- Burns - SO

- Isolated extremity trauma - SO

- Amputation/De-gloving - SO

- Snake Bites - SO

- Eye injury - SO

- Impaled objects - SO 

- Crush Injury - SO

- Kidney stones, abdominal pain, flank pain - SO

- Back pain - BHO

- Isolated Head trauma - BHO

- Acute Pulmonary Edema/CHF - BHO

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

- Multi-system trauma

- Hypovolemia

- BP < 90 systolic for Adults

- BP < 80 systolic for PEDS

- Use caution with Fentanyl and Versed BHO
